For my 200 post of movie reviews, I thought it would be interesting to review some of the greatest movies series of all time. I was torn between other great movie series, but I think these selections might be good choices. I hope you have been enjoying my reviews so far.

THE GODFATHER; PART I: I think the first movie from the trilogy is arguably the best. Many says that is overrated, but I think this movie really dwells with the story about family. I don't think this is necessary as a mafia/mob/organized crime movie, but more about a family. About how a good person has to defend the family honor's and becomes an evil person. A great casting and storylines, when I watched it, my heart always beats faster because the movie is very good. Don Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) is the head of the Corleone Mafia family and he is retiring soon. A rival family is trying to take over the business by selling drugs and when Don Vito doesn't oblige to help, they threatened to kill him and all his family. Sonny (James Caan) the oldest fails to protect the family, and it is up to Michael (Al Pacino) to defend his family although it is against his moral code. His girlfriend, Kay (Diane Keaton) doesn't know how to support him. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Based on a novel by Mario Puzo.
I love this movie, and I think in most people it's a rites of passage watching this movie. I love all the stellar cast and the realism that being depicted in this movie. It does have the usual violence, but the violence is being muted by the relationship between the characters. Very strong performances from each and every actors in this movie. I love Sonny character in this movie, and kinda bummed out when...well, let's just say driving by through toll booth always makes me nervous. This movie has to be watched over and over again.

THE GODFATHER; PART II:A very good sequel for the greatest movie of all time. Unusually for a sequel, I think this sequel is very good. Arguably for some people even better than the original. But I'm sticking to my guns and says that I prefer the original. What I like about the sequel is that it contains two arc storylines about two different timelines. How many movies have different storylines altogether? Don Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) is now the head of the Corleone family and lead the most powerful business in USA. He intends to expand his business to Cuba, without knowing that he is betrayed by his own brother Fredo (John Cazale). His relationship with his wife, Kay (Diane Keaton) also turning worse. Vito Andolini (Robert De Niro) from Corleone, is a poor thief in NYC. After killing a local mafia, Don Fanucci (Gastone Moschin), he becomes one of the most powerful mafia himself. He travels back to Corleone, Sicily, and pay a revenge to Don Ciccio (Giuseppe Sillato) who killed his family. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola.Not only Francis Ford Coppola brillianty brought back the whole characters and cast, he also managed to keep me interested and wanted more about the family. I love how they speaks Italian/Sicilian instead English. I think it's more natural for them to speak their tongue language. I think the two arc storylines are amazing with their own quality.

THE GODFATHER; PART III:Hmm... What can I say about the last installment of the trilogy? I have to say truthfully; I hate it. I'm not saying that the movie sucks, but it lacks the quality from the previous movies. The original cast are gone, it feels too modern even when it sets in the 70s. It's boring, not interesting, and blah. Don Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) is old and looking to retired and legitimize his business. He seeks solitude from the Vatican, and amend his broken relationship with his ex-wife, Kay (Diane Keaton). He also has to deal with Vinnie Mancini (Andy Garcia), eligitimate son of Sonny, who falls in love with Michael's daughter, Mary (Sofia Coppola). Directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Based on a novel by Mario Puzo.
I don't like this movie, not because of Sofia Coppola. I dunno why people hate her in this movie; is it because she's the daughter of the director? I thought she was decent, and I thought Andy Garcia was annoying in this film. Al Pacino seems to yelled all the time in this movie, it annoyed the hell outta me. The storylines seems like a cheap copy of the original, and I think it's because the time has changed and the clashes between old and modern world is being represented in this movie, and it shows. It feels like a pointless exercise, repeating the whole family saga again. But I guess we can't expect another perfect movie, can we?
