I had so much fun watching this movie, I couldn't get enough. I laughed and laughed and laughed with my friends because the movie is unexpectedly hilarious beyond belief. The movie is making fun all the serious action movies out there, with the awesome result.
Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) is a London Police Officer. He is so good with his job, he makes everyone looks bad. His supervisors transferred him to a small town of Sandford, which he is having trouble adapting. His partner, Danny Butterman (Nick Frost) is a big fan of action movies. When there are murders in the town, Nicholas tries to investigate but nobody believes him. He is getting deeper and deeper into the most shocking conspiracy about the murders. Directed by Edgar Wright.
The movie is painfully funny; with its witty dialogues and how it makes fun all the action movies such as "Bad Boys 2" and "Point Break". I was watching this movie with my friends, and we had a blast. I don't remember when the last time I laughed out loud in the cinema. The movie is basically a satire of most of serious drama movies out there, and they put every thing in it. It does feel crowded sometimes, but I thought it fits much. How many times I laughed that every time the character yelled, "For the power of Greyskull!" everytime there was something awesome going on. I think I'm gonna say that a lot too. Personally, I think the movie is better than "Shaun of The Dead" which starring the same duo, although in a quality perspective is less than that zombie movie. But who cares? The main important thing is; this movie is fun and full of laughter. Oh, by the way, Timothy Dalton is the villain in this film, and he was satanically funny. Hahahaha!
The bad thing is that the movie has no particular plot, and it tends takes too long. They could shortened it a bit. But my friend and I was laughing so hard, we wanted to see it again. He said, "Damn, that was good film. Let's see it again!" How many times that after you're watching a comedy, you wanna see it again? The jokes in the movie are simple, and yet it feels smart enough for the audience. It does mix with a bit of cliche horror like "Scream" so audience already know what's gonna happen. But I forgive them, because I think it is deliberate so it won't feel so heavy. There are many cameos such as Cate Blanchett, Steve Coogan, Bill Nighy, and many more. To those who doesn't understand much of British accent may have difficulties to follow the jokes. But the slapstick and the camera movement actually helps the audience to understand the comedy timing. I personally recommend this to those who likes action comedy, especially British ones.
