Sometimes is not enough if you have good actors and good premise; you need to have a good storyline. Unfortunately and sadly I have to deliver you a bad news: this movie isn't good enough. It is time for movie-makers to put their egos aside and start to entertain the audience.
Eragon (Ed Speelers) is an orphan who found a dragon egg which was stolen by an Elf princess named Arya (Sienna Guillory) from an evil king Galbatorix (John Malkovich). Eragon becomes the dragon-rider, with his dragon Saphira (Rachel Weisz). He is being accompanied by a former dragon-rider named Brom (Jeremy Irons) and a warrior named Murtagh (Garret Hedlund) to overthrown the evil king. But they have to face an evil wizard first named Durza (Robert Carylye). Based on a novel by Christopher Paolini.
Where do I start? Okay, one word to describe this movie is dull as a spoon. I had a mild expectation when watching this movie, due the trailer itself was also seemed flat. Jeez... When I'm right, I'm right. How many times did I yawned when watching this movie, I cannot tell. The story is so cliche, is not surprising anymore. Only children who never watched any fantasy movies probably enjoying this. Infact, if people actually like this movie, I might feel pity for them. The moviemakers seems trying to find any kind of reason to clutch into Lord of The Rings and Narnia's coat tails and come up with easy buck. Well, they failed. So many plot holes, so many cliches, so many wrong things in this movie, I feel like they are rushing to make this movie just so they can put it during the holiday season. Stupid.
The performances are terrible, although yes I admit the actors are great. I mean, John Malkovich! How the hell he got tricked into being in this movie? The costumes are too modern and feels like costume; Eragon is wearing a bell-bottoms and leather jacket! The princess is wearing halter-top! And the evil king is sitting on a dark throne, speaking like Hamlet. The evil wizard has a punk hair! And the dragon itself is not magnificent. It's boring, it's flat, it's bad, you name it. And I also found the princess is so annoying, I want her DEAD! Seriously, don't compare this movie with other fantasy movies because this one is so bad, I recommend you don't watch it and save your money to watch something else. What else can you expect from a movie based on a novel written by a teenager? Jeez...
