Sometimes it is better if people should not judge the movie before it comes out. I know I did, and I hereby retract my opinion about this movie, how I was wrong. And this time, I'm glad I was wrong. This movie is GREAT. I had doubts whether they could pull it off, but they did! This is one of the best James Bond's movies I ever watched. Just awesome.
Agent James Bond (Daniel Craig) from British Intelligence MI6 is just been promoted into "007" by M (Judy Dench), and in no time he investigates a terrorist banker named Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen) where he get himself involved into a high stakes poker play in Casino Royale. A special treasury agent named Vesper Lynd (Eva Green) helps him to win the game. If he loses the poker game, the terrorist will have a direct access to the money. Directed by Martin Campbell. Based on a novel by Ian Flemming.
Everything you want about "007" is in this film. This is the closest thing that stays true about the character of James Bond; brash, hard, witty, intelligent, brutal, and honest -- not to mention charming, sexy, and a bit dreamy. Damn! Daniel Craig is not particulary handsome, unlike Pierce Brosnan, but he got this sex-appeal vibe that I can't explain. Regardless, he seems exploded and imploded all the charms in the world at the same time which is being shown in the movie. There are no gadgets nor Q nor stupid cliche villain. Infact, this James Bond is so raw and awesomely pure masculine secret agent, it really is entertaining to see him in action. I guess not everyone still accept the new James Bond. People still have their own favoritism. Whether you prefer Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan, I think Daniel Craig has his own persona and his own character for playing James Bond. I definitely think that he's one of the perfect choices for playing the character. Who cares if he's blonde?
This is the truest interpretation of the character we have ever seen. This film is amazing. Totally mind-blowing. From the black and white pre-titles, to arguably the best titles sequence ever. From the exotic places in the world, cool cars, beautiful people, hardcore fightings, good drama, to the super cool villain. Style and sophistication are in abundance. And I love every minute of watching this movie. If this James Bond has face-off with agent Ethan Hunt from MI3, I'm sure he's gonna win because Tom Cruise is a pussy. Or maybe he should face-off with agent Jason Bourne starring Matt Damon, 'cause I'm sure it'll be a helluva fight. This movie is very intense and no nonsense, a true depiction of what James Bond should really be. One minor note is; the movie is tad a bit too long and a bit dragging. The poker game is too confusing and too long. But it is needed. This movie is directed by guy who responsible for "GoldenEye".Overall, I highly recommended this film, and I can't wait for the next installment.
