X-Men: The Last Stand / X3 / X-Men III

First of all, I wanna shout out to my friend who deliberately sent me an email and gave me the spoiler of the movie. I don't hate you, dearest. But I wanna strangle you. LOL. Oh, my God. I almost had a heart attack when I opened the email. How dare you! Don't ever do that again! But albeit there was a spoiler, I managed to watch this movie entertained...and shocked as well from some of the scenes. I'll try to review without giving out any spoiler. Here we go...

A Pharmaceutical company owns by Warren Worthington II (Michael Murphy) is developing a cure for mutant genes. His son is the mutant Angel (Ben Foster) ran away to the X-Men Academy because he didn't want to get the cure. Cyclops (James Marsden) is devastated after the death of Jean Grey (Famke Jansen). Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) becomes the subtitute teacher in the academy. Storm (Halle Berry) becomes the leader of the X-Men. Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and Beast (Kelsey Grammer) are trying to persuade the President USA (Josef Summer) not to have the mutant curing bill. Meanwhile, Magneto (Ian McKellen), Mystique (Rebecca Romijin), and Pyro (Aaron Standford) with the new Brotherhood of Mutant army are trying to get to the source of the cure, a young mutant named Leech (Cameron Bright). Rogue (Anna Paquin) is tempted to use the cure serum, while Iceman (Shawn Ashmore) and Shadowcat (Ellen Page) are developing a relationship. The war between mutants is starting, and it depends on people to take the last stand. Directed by Brett Ratner.

Wow, look at the summary! That's a lot of characters. Which is why I feel this movie seems like cramming everything with the storylines, many characters, pacing, dialogues and action. In one way, this is a comic geek dream comes true, like me. On the other hand, I feel like they are on a rush with everything. Instead of doing some character developments like in the previous movies, this film seems like a tv series which just put it into one big movie. Well, I'm not complaining. I do feel a bit cheated though. There are certain scenes and storyline which made me pulled my hair and yelled to the big screen. Bunch of people told me to shut up when I did that. It was because I didn't expect it to happen, nor anticipated it. I love comic, especially X-Men, so this movie is a treat for me. But still, kinda a closing chapter for the franchise, and it makes me sad.

I gotta admit, I was a bit pessimistic when the director was not Bryan Singer anymore. The guy had a great visionary about character and story development. Brett Ratner is more like a box-office movie kinda director, so I was a bit worried. But apparently, the movie is okay. Not as good as the second one, but I was entertained enough. Yes, I feel sad because now the franchise is ended. Love all the characters in this movie like Juggernaut (Vinnie Jones), Callisto (Dania Ramirez), Colossus (Daniel Cudmore), Jubilee (Kea Wong), Multiple Man (Eric Dane), Psylocke (Mei Melançon), Arclight (Omahyra), Kid Omega (Ken Leung), and many more are making cameos. I don't think I can list all of the mutants because it's useless. Beast is so much alike like Frasier, but what the hell. If you like comic and fast pacing storyline without character development, watch this. If not, you'd feel a bit blah. Me? I'm half-and-half. Favorite line is from Juggernaut: "I'm Juggernaut, BITCH!" That was funny.

Ratings: 7/10

ETA: Few years after watching this movie, I watched it on DVD and I decided that I really don't like it. The movie is too clutter and messy, not to mention the plot seems just being rushed without actually have a certain satisfaction. I'm afraid this movie won't last the test of time.

hanibi, mau dong resensi Borat.

tararengkyuuu :)

i think this movie is okay, but not great. i feel they rushed into things, crammed everything, and i was a bit dissapointed the way they ended the movie. it could have been better. too bad...

sudahlah, uda lewat. hahahaha! pokoknya awas kalo ngasi taw lagi! yah, filmnya sih lumayan. cuman gue lbh seneng yg ke 2. yg ini trlalu buru2 bikinnya, trlalu gimana gitu. oke lah, cuman ga OKE banget!

1. Nightcrawler ga mo terlibat sama kgiatan mutant. dia org yg religius, lbh seneng nongkrong di gereja. tapi aktornya si Alan Cumming emang ga mo maen lagi.

2. krn itu uda hukum alam dari komik. contohnya si HULK. uda brubah, celananya teteup sgitu aja. so, emang uda dari sononya. gebleg aja lah sutradaranya. hehe..

hahaha...sepertinya gue ya orangnya yg ngasih spoiler... :D ... IYA GUE NGAKU....hehe.....

sekali lagi daku minta maaf ya dear... gue juga kesel banget karena di ceritain spoilernya oleh temen gue...lewat status ym pula! meski begitu, gue sih gapercaya sampe akhirnya gue nonton sendiri filmnya...

oke deh...yang penting filmya oke banget khaaannn.... sampe sekarang ada dua pertanyaan yg bikin penasaran:
1. si nightcrawler kemana?
2. di scene akhir...kenapa celana si wolverine ga "habis" oleh ilmu si phoenix? kenapa cuma baju atas ama kulit tubuh bagian atas doang? huehuehueehehehehehehehehe......
