I never thought I'd be saying this; but this movie is actually...cool. Despite how much I loathe Tom Cruise, but this third installment of Mission Impossible series redeemed itself from the eternal damnation from me. Total grip-the-edge-of-your-seat kinda movie, and it's not dissapointing. Awesome.
Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) has retired from IMF, and he's getting married to Julia (Michelle Monaghan) who doesn't know his double life as a secret agent. Agent John Musgrave (Billy Crudup) informed Ethan, that Agent Lindsey Ferris (Kerri Russel) is missing. Ethan with his team members of Luther (Ving Rhames), Declan (Jonathan Rhys-Meyers) and Zhen (Maggie Q) have to save her from Owen Davian (Phillip Seymour-Hoffman). Their rescue mission is being monitored by their superior, John Brassel (Laurence Fishburn). Apparently there's a traitor amongst the Agency, and they have to move fast. Directed by J.J. Abrams.
In some ways, this movie is the best of the three franchise. It depends on one's point of view, and those do tend to vary. I was utterly entertained by this movie. From beginning to end, the movie gave intense performances while allowing the special effects, high octane explosions, and super cool spy technology to serve as characters themselves. And lets all just take a few seconds to thank the Lord that director John Woo was no where near this film. MI:2 was an action packed summer blockbuster, but thats all it was; the story was weak and the plot was almost dumb. I know a friend or two who actually loved the number two movie, but I'm sorry to say that it was blah. Sometimes people doesn't want to think and prefer to get awe by dumb explosion. Well, I guess taste is different. Oh, well. Whatever floats your boat.
I found MI:3 very easy to follow, yet it still had me guessing. The action was good the story was good, and they even threw a love story in for the woman companion in his life. I highly suggest this movie to viewers who likes gripping plots and actions. There's something in it for everyone. I feel that they gone back to the roots of Mission Impossible series, because I'm fan of the old television series. The movie directed by the guy whose responsible for Lost and Alias, so yeah. It's very entertaining! However, there are some cheesy moments I'd like to block from my mind, like the gag love story - and how Ethan Hunt is becoming somekind of super agent, because I gotta suspended my disbelief big time. At least it's cool.
